Kids for Wish Kids Goals
Inspire students to care for other kids in their community now and in the future.
Kids like doing something positive for other kids. Our wish granting program is highly relate-able and they recognize why a certain wish might be important to a kid. Like adults, they enjoy hearing about our more unusual wishes, but they also understand the desire to meet Mickey Mouse or Elmo.
They are encouraged to think about how good their lives are and what it might be like to be blindsided by something like a life-threatening illness. It empowers them to do something to help those kids around them who are facing a difficult time…whether they know them or not by helping to grant a wish and changing their life for the better.
Develops compassion and empathy. Gives them an opportunity to work in a team to achieve a goal (i.e. raising a target of $1K or more) and in the process develops leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Adopt-A-Wish program within Kids for Wish Kids is highly popular as kids can clearly see how their hard earned funds were used when they get a report back on how the wish turned unfolded. Reinforces that these are real people with real challenges.
Make kids feel good about the positive effect that they are having by sharing the wish stories with them, personally coming out to schools to thank them, and celebrating their success in the community press where possible.
